“Toads Lake”

A piece meant to show a moment of rising stakes in some example of a storybook plot. The narrative is a simple one however, of a heist occurring beneath the warty chin of the distracted king toad.

More fantasy & world-building illustration work

Video game and card art is at the very core of genre-defining illustration in this current decade. From large IP’s with recognizable casts to smaller passion projects gaining traction through online hype, there is a wide variety of possibilities to divulge within. Whether you’re working with pre-existing material or starting from the ground up, I can visualize worlds alternative and imagined to engage players imaginations.

I have experience with deliverables that require bleeds, certain dimensions, and file types. Need to make an illustration that can be rigged to move or have a certain effect added? A game asset such as an emotive sprite profile? Alternative versions of an illustration such as a different colour pallete? No project is ever-alike, and I can match your vision.

Indie? Small budget? Getting a Kickstarter underway? I can adapt to strict budget and constraints, just shoot off an email and we can discuss a plan that’ll work out great for the both of us.

What this looks like

  • Card art meant for small printings
  • Character sheets and NPC portraits
  • Environment and location art
  • Box covers and key art
  • Rulebook interiors and spot illustration

How it works

  1. Send your brief. Your project and any questions. No commitment.
  2. Get a reply in one business day from me. Response towards your project, and additional clarification such as budget if required.
  3. Project begins. Process on work starts once everything has been agreed upon and any upfront fees.

Common questions

Does your art hold up at card size?

Yes, by focusing on silhouette and composition in order to create a comprehensive design rather than going all in on the details.

Can you match our game's existing art style?

I likely can and would be open to doing a style test at a reduced rate in order to test if we would be compatible for collaboration. Just send some pre-existing examples and style guides along my way.

How do you price a set of pieces?

Depends on the project's scope, expectations, and content. A flat rate per deliverable can be arranged, to amount to a final amount by the end. Ultimately price is calculated on a rough estimate of time. I am also open to discussion with royalties dependent on the project.

What formats can you deliver?

I can deliver .PSD, .TIFF, .PNG, and .JPG files. Dimensions and DPI would need to be provided ahead of time, as well as any required assets such as text, logo, and/or framing for the ready-to-use deliverable. Additionally if assets are to be animated in any way such as through the usage of 2d armature or similar techniques, a notice on that is required so I can create the illustration's layers in a way so that it can animated. For further clarification, I currently do not have the knowledge or software to animate illustrations in this way.

Do you sign NDAs for unannounced games/projects/IP's?

Yes.
